Strong Testing Performance Sees Lascorz Quickest Of All
Newsflash, 22 February 2010 Joan Lascorz posted a 1’34.374 lap in official testing at Phillip Island and in doing so became the fastest rider over two busy days of track action.
Only a strong and changeable wind in the afternoon session prevented Lascorz from going even faster, but even so he was only a sliver away from the outright best Supersport lap of 1’34.320.
Katsuaki Fujiwara was also in good form on his Ninja ZX-6R, fifth fastest with a 1’34.994 lap, but spending more time testing tyres and race set-ups than most other riders.
After a successful completion of a strong winter test programme, the official Kawasaki Provec Motocard.com team are in good shape to face the new season, which begins at Phillip Island this coming weekend.
Fabien Foret (Team Lorenzini by Leoni Kawasaki) was just behind Fujiwara at the PI tests, putting three Ninja ZX-6R machines in the top six.
Joan Lascorz: “We tried some small setting changes and we made some improvements again. We understand the bike more and more all the time. We did not make a full race simulation but we have a good base for the race. We can still make improvements in braking into some of the slower corners, but we were fastest and I feel good for the race. We could even have gone faster if there was less wind at the end of the final day.”
Katsuaki Fujiwara: “We have made a good test here and worked with two different tyres, one wider one narrower. It was difficult to decide which one was the best to use, as each has advantages, so we will make the decision in practice for the race. We are in good shape to start the season and I feel very fit and strong.”
